Russia's largest New Year tree was installed in Moscow on Red Square in 2018. It stood 34 metresand weighed 20 tonnes! Moving such a giant required special equipment and careful planning. It was brought to Moscow from the Mozhaysky forest in Arkhangelsk Region.
Specially equipped trucks supported and protected the tree. White and red reflective wrapping helped prevent damage. The 1,500 km journey to Moscow took four days.
The transport was completed without major incidents. Minor weather delays were quickly resolved.
The complex operation ensured the tree reached Moscow in good condition, ready for Red Square. It was an impressive achievement and a memorable sight for New Year celebrations in Russia's capital.
Moscow's tree was impressive, but the world record cited here was a 70-metre tree installed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2019. Known as “Árvore de Natal da Lagoa”, it stood on a floating platform in Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and attracted tourists and residents.
